BIG NAMES JOIN BLAST AS COUNTDOWN CONTINUES

As the countdown to the Brisbane Blast continues, QSM Racing has joined the Brisbane Blast team as naming sponsor of the inaugural event, with leading high performance sports brands 2XU and Active Stride also joining as presenting partners. The QSM Racing Brisbane Blast, which will see criterium and running racing return to South Bank, aims to give cyclists and runners a chance to race in Brisbane city.

Criterium entries close on Sunday the 27th of January for the Feb 10th event which will become a mainstay on the Australian sporting calendar, offering a range of criterium cycling and running events as well as a Councilor's Social Ride, and in time acting as a major tourism booster for Brisbane City.

Additionally the QSM Racing Brisbane Blast also offers Robbie McEwen Corporate Teams Racing and the Active Stride 1 Mile Bolt running race which is expected to draw a strong field of both runners and multi-sport athletes.

Race Director Mike Crawley said the support of QSM Racing, as well as Active Stride and 2XU and our existing sponsors makes a significant difference in preparation for the event.

"Having such strong sponsors so actively present in the Brisbane running and riding scenes has major flow-on effects into these fraternities."
"With both 2XU and Active Stride having shops on course and QSM Racing competing I expect a very positive race day atmosphere" Crawley said.

Event Manager Sebastien Krantz also highlighted the importance of the event for Brisbane.
"Cycling has a seriously strong presence in Queensland and the inclusion of a Social Ride will lift the sports profile, both competitively and socially. In the criteriums we are expecting a high level of racing which will be exciting." he said.

Entry into Criterium racing is completed through the Cycling Queensland webpage, www.qld.cycling.org.au, with all other entries through the Brisbane Blast site.

Entries for the 1Mile Bolt run and corporate teams race are completed through www.brisbaneblast.com.au.

CRITERIUM RACING SET TO RETURN TO SOUTH BANK

After a period of uncertainty QSMSports and Cycling Queensland are excited to announce intention to return Criterium racing to South Bank. Having found a new home on the other side of the River, the Brisbane Blast Cycling Festival had been granted approval by South Bank Corporation for December 9th however QSMSports have applied to move the event to Sunday February 10th 2013 to allow greater lead up time and ultimately better racing.

Originally planned for early December the Blast has been moved after encountering unresolvable issues with stakeholders on the CBD course, however this new date will allow for greater lead up time and ultimately better racing. Participants that had previously entered the December event have the option of either receiving a full refund or transferring their entry to the February event. Riders wishing to receive a full refund are to write to

The festival, which gives cyclists an opportunity to race on roads that have been unavailable for racing for some time, will host a series of Criterium racing including Masters A,B,C; Elite A,B,C; and Womens A & B. Corporate Teams Racing will also have a significant presence on the event program, as QSMSports are once again negotiating with Robbie McEwen and others to be inaugural Blast patrons. After continued growth of the sport in Australia over recent years, The Blast is a great coup for Cycling in Brisbane and Queensland and a genuine chance for the cycling community to embrace and experience inner city racing.

Given the support of cyclists from Cape York to Hobart QSMSports is confident that the Blast will become a mainstay on the Australian Cycling calendar. Registration for Criteriums will reopen shortly and is to be completed through the Cycling Queensland webpage. More information will be available from
www.BrisbaneBlast.com.au in the coming weeks or to request full refund contact QSMSports at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
